Good Grief, Charlie Brown!
I love Peanuts. I loved it when I was a little kid and I love now I am an adult, in different ways but the same amount. Which is a lot. In total, from 1950 to 2000, there were 17,897 strips published, which makes Peanuts possibly the longest running story ever. Charles M. Schulz drew every single one those strips, colour and line, without an assistant, until he retired just before his death in February 2000.
When you think about it, that's 17,897 ideas for stories, ideas for things to talk to readers about every day. I started writing poems about Peanuts when I was stuck for ideas and wanted to do something that might be more fun. Bits of this small collection have ventured out into the world but they've gathered here as if for a baseball game, which will be lost for some unforeseen reason that is still somehow completely predictable.
Peanuts is everywhere but if you want to know more the Charles M. Schulz Museum is a good place to start. Might see you there one day. Oh, and you know those people who call it Snoopy, instead of Peanuts? Go easy on them, they know not what they do.
